Grand opening of a new Teen Lab at Sofia City Library
Dr. Emilia Ianeva, Professor at California State University
On the eve of commemorating the birth of Snejana Ianeva on March 8th by the Community of Librarians, I am grateful for being invited to participate in the Grand Opening of the Teen HUB. It is a joint project of Sofia City Library, the US Embassy in Bulgaria and many municipal agencies. I saw the fruits of the good and continuous co-operation between the library and the US Embassy, the foundations of which were laid back in 2001 by Snejana Ianeva. Then in 2008 she was the one who inspired and was instrumental in establishing the American Center at Sofia City Librar.

It was a pleasure to see the American Ambassador Her Excellency Hero Mustafa, whom I met for the first time during the Memorial Service for my sister, now opening a Teen Lab, which is a continuation of the work Snejana started. This is optimistic and good, because it is all done for the young people and is very much connected to a future of Bulgaria as a country using high tech knowledge.
I visited the digital teen lab with the Director of Sofia City Library, saw the modern equipment and I am deeply moved that the pioneering work of my sister has found good followers, who will continue to open new cultural and tech horizons in front of the young citizens of Sofia and all the communities in the capital.
